DAY 1 COCHIN
Arrive Cochin
Evening embark on a sightseeing trip on board boat and visit Fort Cochin ? 'Queen of the Arabian Sea', with its Colonial architecture carefully preserved. See the Oldest Church in India 'Santa Cruz Basilica', St. Francis Church where Vasco da Gama was buried, the Chinese fishing nets, Dutch Palace (built by the Portuguese in 1557). The Jewish Synagogue built in 1568.
DAY 2 MUNNAR
Morning drive through the Cardamom Hills to the old British Hill Station of Munnar, in the heart of the tea growing country. Stay two nights in Munnar.
DAY 3 MUNNAR
Explore the town and nearby Cardamom Plantations and pay a visit to a tea garden.
DAY 4 PERIYAR
Morning drive through the heart of Kerala to Periyar wildlife Sanctuary.
DAY 5 PERIYAR
Game viewing - game viewing by boat in the sanctuary, surrounded by
hills. Wildlife in Periyar includes elephants, guar, pudhole and fresh water
tortoise among other animals. Bird species are heron, kingfisher, hornbill,
water and fishfowl.
DAY 6 KUMARAKOM
Morning descent the hills to proceed through rubber plantations to Kumarakom.Relax for two nights on the bank of Vembanad Lake.
DAY 7 KUMARAKOM
Day at leisure to explore the surrounding villages to see the local life - virtually unchanged over the passing years.
DAY 8 ALLEPPEY
Cruise through the famed narrow canals by houseboat. Alleppey is known as the Venice of the East due to the network of canals. View the local people live in the water
dominated landscape. Stay overnight on the houseboat.
DAY 9 ALLEPPEY
Cruise to Thottappilly via Changanacherry. Overnight on the houseboat.
DAY 10 VARKALA
Leave Thottappilly by road to Varkala, a Temple town adjoining the Arabian sea coast. The town is famous as pilgrimage centre for Hindus who visit to worship at the ancient Janardhana Swamy Temple and pay homage to Kerala's saint and social reformer Sri Narayana Guru.
DAY 11 TRIVANDRUM, KOVALAM
Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), capital of Kerala is a sea side city built on seven hills. The city derives its name from Thiruvananthapuram - the adobe of the sacred serpent on which Lord Vishnu, of Hindu Trinity, the preserver of the world, reclines.
DAY 12 TRIVANDRUM, KOVALAM
Free at Kovalam to explore one of the finest beaches in the world.
Optional Ayurvedic treatment.
DAY 13
